Gold Standard

I've never met anything gold and shiny that I didn't like, including all the furniture and decorative accents in this Parisian apartment. It is owned by Delfina Delettrez whose mother is Silvia Venturini Fendi, one of those fabulous fashion Fendis.  Looks like chicness runs in the family and her taste in antiques is perfect for the Sixth Arrondissement apartment on the Place de Furstenberg, one of the most beautiful areas in the city. While her mother designs bags, this Fendi fille designs jewelry and of course uses lots of gold. Maybe she's inspired by her apartment.  I know I sure am.

Beautiful Backdrop

I thought the house in the Upstairs Downstairs feature in the September issue of Harper's Bazaar looked familiar. Turns out it's Chateau de Groussay that I posted about here and here.  As I've stated before, I love fashion shoots that are shot in beautiful homes and this one includes a few rooms that I've never seen before.  Besides the gorgeous gowns, I'm now dreaming about those red upholstered French chairs and that blue settee.  What was most exciting besides the house is that it was photographed by Karl Lagerfeld.  I can only imagine the glamour factor on set the day of the shoot. More importantly, I wonder if Karl needs a photo assistant.

Charlotte's Chic Homes

One of the events I couldn't make it to this week was shoe designer Charlotte Dellal's launch party at Bergdorf Goodman.  Her line named Charlotte Olympia is filled with vertigo inducing heels in bright colors and patterns.  After seeing images of her own home in London as well as that of her parents, I have a feeling that she must be inspired by these interiors and amazing art collection.

Gorgeous in green Oscar de la Renta on her balcony.

I wouldn't be surprised if Charlotte expands to hats and gloves before long.

As the mother of a young child, she is often running around and said she plans to introduce flats and lower heels now.

I think London has the prettiest front doors of any city.

Thanks Harper's Bazaar!

Big thanks to Véronique Hyland for including Habitually Chic in her Bloggers Share Their Fashion Week Prep Secrets story for Harpers Bazaar .  I am beyond excited and honored to be included with Garance Doré, Bryanboy, Style Bubble, The Man Repeller, Keep It Chic, All the Pretty Birds, Geometric Sleep, and the Purse Blog

Fashion was one of my first loves growing up.  I used to watch Style with Elsa Klensch and The Style Network (when it was still about having style, not the lack thereof) and dreamed about moving to New York and attending fashion shows.  At that time, there was no Google to tell you how to get a job in fashion and when I finally did move to New York, it was still a very exclusive world.  So I pursued my other love of design.  Over the years, I was lucky to be invited to shows by my friends who worked for designers but now to be invited because of my blog and to have my name on a seat is even more special because I earned it.  I am telling you this story because if you can dream it, you can achieve it.  It might be in a way that you didn't even know existed so never give up on something you love!

Is it Spring yet?

I'm over winter which is really a problem since it's only just begun.  That is why I absolutely love the new photos of Nicole Kidman in the February issue of Harper's Bazaar.  They are like a breath of fresh air and are making me forget to that it's supposed to snow in New York tomorrow.  How many more months until Spring?

Chic at Home: Vanessa Traina

The November issue of Harper's Bazaar finally arrived yesterday.  The first thing I did was turn to A Fashionable Life which is my favorite feature.  This month, we get to peek into the West Village apartment of the downtown "it girl" Vanessa Traina shot by The Selby.  (There are more photos online and in the magazine.)  For those of you who don't know, Vanessa is the daughter of Danielle Steele and is also a Chanel ambassador and occasional model.  It's refreshing to see a home that hasn't been perfectly put together by an interior designer and reflects the owner's personal style.  Although, she's friends with Ryan Korban so I wonder if he helped her.  Also in the magazine is a great look inside shoe designer Charlotte Dellal's London flat.  I think Harper's Bazaar is definitely giving Vogue a run for their money. Enjoy!
