Let There Be Light

I've loved this lamp by Jamie Young Company since I first saw it in Harper's Bazaar magazine but I hadn't taken the time to look into who designed it until this week. You have to check out their web site for the long version of the story but essentially the company was started 10 years ago by a couple with art/design backgrounds who had a love of travel and an aversion to working 9am-5pm at a conventional job. Doesn't that describe us all?! Anyway, their small modest venture has turned into a thriving lighting and home accessories business that is also very environmentally conscious.

"Jamie and David’s motivation is not fueled by a typical entrepreneurial spirit, but rather by a shared commitment to an artistic vision, and more importantly a shared commitment to be able to go to all of the baseball games, soccer games and school outings that come up for their two boys, no matter what time of the day it is."

They don't sell their products on their website but Inside Avenue has a huge selection of their mix and match lamp bases and shades. The design combinations are endless. Enjoy!
